God Particle, Higgs field and the Brahman!

In the quest of studying sub atomic particles, the Scientists in the field of particle Physics had a startling discovery in the year 2012. In a massive experiment referred as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) they could find the existence of the Higgs field, which is made up of Higgs Boson, which is also called as the God Particle!. It has been a very long journey in the field of particle physics where scientists are studying matter and sub atomic particles in the minute details. As we all know, every atom consists of proton and neutron at the center, that is the nucleus, and electrons revolve around the nucleus.

The standard model proposed by Scientific community explains the sub atomic particles which are responsible for the formation of protons, neutrons. Some of them can be listed as quarks, leptons etc. These sub atomic particles are very very small in the size. The basic question was what is that which gives the mass to these sub atomic particles? What scientists revealed through that experiment is that, there is a continuous field of energy which they called as the Higgs field. While traversing through this field sub atomic particles produces some friction with this Higgs field, which in result gives mass to those sub atomic particles!

Why this discovery is so important? This study tells that there is a continuous field of energy which is responsible for the creation of sub atomic particles and in turn for the existence of the entire universe!!!This field is the basic subtratum of the entire creation! Is this really a new discovery? May be for the scientists who are unaware of our Vedas its completely new and astonishing, but in fact the description of so called Higgs field by the Scientists of todays time, is referred as the Brahman in our vedas and few shlokas from Nasadiya sukta from Rigvedas gives a marvelous explanation of such a field, the Brahman which also can be termed as the God the Divine! Our sages not only described such an energy field but it was an experiencial reality, not just an intellectual understanding!

I strongly recommend to watch the short talk on Higgs Boson by H.H. Sri Sri Ravishankar ji

Science and Spirituality

Its a natural tendency of every human being to ask the questions and to be curious about everything. The time since we have started speaking, we ask questions to our parents and family members. We are curious to know everything that is happening around us. At every point of life we want to know something, why the things are the way they are? Why these events are happening in my life? Why such an such a person is behaving in this way with me? There is no escape from these questions. Some way or the other we are seeking answers to different questions.

When one asks what is this? It comes into the realm of science. When one probes into such questions, the scientific temperament starts getting developed in that person. When sir Isaac Newton probe into the question of what is the reason behind an apple falling down, the entire notion of gravity and a large class of Physics came into the existence. Whatever the entire scientific community is engaged into, is in finding  the answer to this question what is this? What is this universe all about? This basic question has led the entire development of science in various branches. In the last few centuries many great people have contributed immensely and have been trying to develop the unified theory of existence. It has not yet reached its final goal but it has helped the mankind to progress in the field of technology and has been crucial in making our life more comfortable. But are we really happy with all these material comforts? The surprising fact is that the more is the developed country, the more is the materialistic progress, the people in those countries are more unhappy. The percentage of people suffering from depression is much more in developed countries as compared to those in developing countries.

The reason behind this is we have forgotten the basic question of who am I? This question is more primary than the question of what is this? Spirituality is a way to find the answer to this question who am I?  Spirituality is not running away from daily life but moving closer to that aspect of our existence which is life supporting. Its a science in itself. There is no contradiction between science and spirituality, both these fields converge to the same goal, of finding the absolute truth about the universe, about our existence! Every person who practices spirituality in a right manner is a scientist and every scientist who achieves excellence in the field of science becomes spiritual at the end! As the current science, the quantum mechanics, says everything in this universe is one energy, one wave function, the similar conclusions have occurred in our vedic scriptures. The similar concept of the GOD Particle, the Higgs bosson finds its roots in Nasadiya suktas of Rigveda. Its astonishing to see the startling resemblance between the advanced science and ancient vedic shlokas.  One may refer the following link for example:    https://vedaravindamu.wordpress.com/2011/10/11/origin-of-the-universe-nasadiya-sukta-of-rig-veda/

Somehow in todays time we have forgotten the spiritual aspects of life. In the ancient times the spiritual education was given to the students at the beginning only and then other things were taught. All our ancient sages were scientists and thats why they could explain the intrinsic facts about the univese thousands of years before this era of modern science, and that too with such a precision! Spirituality is the essence of all the human values such as friendliness, compassion, belongingness. Unless we give some place to the spiritual values in todays education system, all the scientific progress will be futile. A right balance of both science and spirituality is the key to be successful and happy in our life.
